The Hydro Difference
Hydro’s team of experts is dedicated to developing comprehensive solutions for all rotating equipment challenges. We deliver a single source of total support, providing end users with a trusted partner for reducing their equipment lifecycle costs.
Backed by years of experience and an unparalleled commitment to our customers, our goal is to achieve lasting results by addressing factors that impact equipment availability, reliability, and performance. As an independent company, we are loyal to our customers – not to a brand.
At Hydro Australia, we prioritise collaborative partnerships with our clients. Our approach centres on solution-oriented engineering, aiming to pinpoint root causes of pump failures and implement strategic re-engineering measures to address identified issues, all while ensuring cost-effectiveness for our customers.
With over 50 years of experience, we do it right – the first time.
History
With its first service centre in Chicago, Hydro was formed in 1969 by a small group of pump engineers who saw repair as an opportunity for improvement. From that small shop, Hydro grew nationally and then internationally to become the largest independent pump rebuilder with service centres throughout the world.
Hydro Australia, which opened in October 1998, is a pump aftermarket service centre in Hydro’s worldwide pump service organisation. We provide quality engineering, pump rebuilding, and on-site field services to pump users in Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, and South East Asia.
With a unique capability of understanding the different designs and materials employed by the various OEMs, as well as their successes or failures in specific applications and operating environments, Hydro is in an excellent position to improve the original designs for their intended service.
Our high rate of repeat business is a testament to the performance improvements we have achieved in the field. Our independent and unbiased engineering approach enables us to recommend best-in-class design improvements based on the inspection data and our extensive empirical database.
Quality Assurance
Hydro has developed a reputation for quality and reliability throughout the pump industry. The detailed inspections, workscopes, and repair plans we offer meet and typically exceed OEM standards. We pride ourselves on providing our customers with the detailed information required to properly evaluate their pump’s condition.
Hydro’s Quality Assurance program and process control procedures are continually evolving to meet the stringent requirements of ASME code requirements. We pride ourselves on the continual training of our engineers, technicians, and management in accordance with our QA Manual requirements and the latest standards.
We are committed to ensuring our customers receive the best possible service we can provide, including the high quality of our reports and documentation.

Hydro Australia's open door policy — Come on in.
Hydro maintains an "open door" policy; inviting unannounced visits by our customers to inspect our workshop and workmanship.
When pumps are in our shop, customers are encouraged to review the work undertaken on the shop floor and speak with the inspectors, mechanics, and machinists who are working on your job.
With this open communication, we are able to build a high level of trust with our customers; sharing ideas and working as a team to solve pump problems.
Experience and innovation drive a brighter future.
Throughout our history, Hydro has been guided and inspired by our purpose of improving our world through smart and skillful engineering. This devotion describes the impact we’ve had across our first 60 years, as well as our commitment to continuous advancement- for our customers, our colleagues, and our communities.
Customers put their trust in our products and services to support a wide range of applications in diverse sectors, such as Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Chemical, and Steel. Our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities uphold this trust and are central to our purpose and mission.
